Apple AirPods Pro 2 Design Surprise Revealed in New Leak

AirPods Pro 2 is expected to be released this year. There have been many rumors, as well as counter-rumors (like what the AirPods will cost). Some even suggested that the next premium inears would have a completely different design, or be “stemless” like @LeaksApple pro claimed.

However, a new report has reached a completely different conclusion.

MacRumors published findings last year based on leaked images of AirPods Pro 2 last year. Apple will not call them that and is more likely than anyone to choose AirPods Pro Second Generation.

These images were very similar to the first-gen AirPods Pro. There have been many rumors in the meantime, some pointing to a completely different design and the absence of the distinctive stalks protruding from the ears.

MacRumors has a series of Ian Zelbo renders that show a design that is very similar to the current earbuds.

New renders show AirPods Pro in 3D. This is a scaled comparison. Only difference is the replacement of the narrow, black, slim earbud marking with a shorter, more squatterly shaped lozenge.

This detail is very important. It seems to confirm that one new element is not on the current AirPods Pro. However, it is on the third-generation AirPods.

AirPods Pro and every model of AirPods in-ear buds has a cool feature: Take it out of your ears and playback will stop.

AirPods detect when the bud has been removed from your ear using an infra red sensor. It’s not perfect, however. Sometimes the sensor will mistakenly think that your bud is in a bag or pocket and play it back when you don’t want it.

Apple’s third-generation AirPods used skin-detect sensors to detect water content and determine if they were in an ear.

The long black detail with an elliptical and IR sensor is now replaced by a smaller circular grille.

The point is that virtually nothing in the design has changed. It has not changed at all.

This will disappoint those who desire a new look but it is logical. Apple doesn’t often make changes to designs very quickly so it was a surprise that Apple made a major change on the second-generation Pro earbuds, especially if they removed the stem completely.

MacRumors’ earlier photos suggest that there is a design change to the case. Six holes will be located on the bottom of the case. Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable analyst, has stated that the next AirPods Pro will make a sound so that you can locate it easier. These holes fit well with this.

AirPods and AirPods Pro instantly stand out, so even though many would prefer a different design, Apple is likely to keep the continuity and maintain that instant recognition with its next-generation product.

AirPods Pro’s next release is not expected until fall so there are plenty of rumors.
