Mario Gotze is back with the Bundesliga. Eintracht Frankfurt announced Tuesday the signing of Gotze, the 30-year-old goal scorer for Germany’s 2014 World Cup winning goal. An exit clause in Gotze’s contract allowed the Eagles to sign Gotze for EUR4 million.
Markus Krosche, Frankfurt’s director of sport, stated in a club statement that Mario Gotze chose Eintracht Frankfurt with complete conviction over many other offers. I don’t have to tell you much about his footballing abilities.
Frankfurt was not the only club that was interested in the 30-year old playmaker. He has rebuilt his reputation at PSV over two years, after difficult years at Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. Roger Schmidt, PSV’s head coach, will be taking over at Inter Miami CF in the summer.
Gotze wanted to play Champions League football again so Frankfurt was the one in control. Unlike Benfica, Frankfurt is directly qualified to compete at the group stage. Inter Miami CF, owned by Beckham, promised the best deal. But Gotze’s desire for Champions League football prevailed.
Everything is perfect for me, from the stadium to fans to the city. Gotze stated in a club statement that he is looking forward to his return to the Bundesliga and the opportunity to play in the Champions League.
However, this does not mean Major League Soccer is out of reach. However, Gotze wants another chance at the highest level.
However, the interest shown by America highlights Gotze’s strength as a brand vehicle. Frankfurt’s new number 27, which was created after the World Cup-winning goal at Bayern and Dortmund, is still well-known from New York to Los Angeles.
Frankfurt signed Gotze not only because of its branding, but also because it was a good idea. Filip Kostic, Dai
The Eagles could lose Chi Kamada, and they needed a creative midfielder to add surprise to an attack that was heavily built around strong wing play, quick counter-attack, and strong wing play.
Krosche stated in the club statement that “we’ve been lacking players of his type.” “Mario’s technical abilities will greatly benefit our game, especially when we are in possession against deeply-rooted opponents. He can also show his strengths in almost any attacking position, giving us more tactical flexibility. He also brings many years of international experience.”
Gotze can be a number 10, number 8 or a false 9 in Frankfurt’s system. Frankfurt has two number 9s, Randal Kolo Muani and Rafael Borre, for next season. The club is also interested Wout Weghorst.
Jens Petter Haig, Ansgar Kauff, and Jesper Lindstrom all can fill in key roles on the wing. Gotze now has one task: play centrally, be the engine and fulfill, and become the kind of player the club hasn’t seen since Jay-Jay Okocha or Andreas Moller.
