Where to Stay in Luxury Hotels on Portugal’s Algarve?

Although Portugal is currently on the U.K. amber list, they have confirmed that they are considering eliminating quarantine for people who were vaccinated later in summer. Algarve, with its striking cliffs and golden sand beaches, is the most popular place to relax in Portugal. You can book ahead to avoid high prices and restrictions by booking hotels that offer flexibility and refunds.

There are many luxury hotels in the area. But which one should I choose?

The Pine Cliffs Resort is a Luxury Collection Resort from Marriott

This is the resort for you if you’re looking for beautiful scenery and large resorts where you don’t have to leave. This is the most beautiful of the Algarve’s top luxury hotels. It sits on the Praia da Falesia beaches, on red cliffs. It is located between Vilamoura, Albufeira and Faro airports, approximately 35 minutes away.

The Pine Cliffs resortconsists of a hotel, more modern Ocean suites, as well as a variety of villas and residences. Although the main hotel has been renovated recently, the rooms still retain their Portuguese charm with hand-painted tiled headboards. Modern bathrooms have walk-in bathtubs and deep soaking tubs.

This hotel is more like a “place” than any other luxury hotels. The stunning Moorish-style central courtyard, with its tiled fountain, is the first thing you notice when you enter the hotel.

There are 72 hectares of activities, including a cooking school, Annabel Croft tennis academy, and a golf course that is challenging, but beautiful, on the cliffs. A large children’s club is available for families. The hotel spa has a private suite called the Aurum Suite that is equipped with a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. It also offers a double treatment room and lounge area.

Mirador champagne bar is located in the center of the resort. It is the ideal place to enjoy a sunset glass or coktail under its champagne tree. If you don’t feel like going out, there are many options. There is Yakuza Algarve, a Japanese restaurant, and Mare, a beautiful beach location with freshly prepared fish.

The main problem with this hotel is its lack of heating for outdoor pools, except the Golf Clubhouse. Although there is an indoor pool, it is not heated enough to be used outside. For beach lovers, there is an elevator that takes you to the beach. However, it is still a long, strenuous walk and can be difficult for those with mobility problems or children who are very young. You don’t have to go to the resort to enjoy the beach.

The Conrad Algarve

The Conrad is a luxury hotel that has consistently been rated as one of the top-rated hotels in the Algarve. It also belongs to the Hilton group. The Conrad is located inland, slightly less central than The Pine Cliffs and the Anantara, but it’s only 20 minutes away from the airport. It is near Quinta do Lago and Val de Lobo, which offer a variety of high-end restaurants for guests who wish to venture outside.

The hotel is situated around a central courtyard with the Louro restaurant at the base that overlooks the stunning Algarve hillside. The hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Heinz Beck, is a great choice for a quick gourmet getaway. Gusto’s menu is very similar to Beck’s Rome restaurant, which has three Michelin stars. The Gusto bar is located adjacent to the restaurant and serves innovative cocktails inspired by stories. It also features unique combinations of fruit and spcies.

If you are looking for a winter holiday, the hotel has two pools: the primary pool is heated all year and the spa pool is heated during the warmer months. There is an indoor pool if it rains.

The hotel is not located on the coast but they do offer transfers to the beach during high season. If you enjoy walking, Ria Formosa nature reserves is close by. It has one of Europe’s longest boardwalks as well as lagoons or barrier islands that can be explored. There is also a children’s club, and a pool for children.

The Conrad’s rooftop suite is a unique feature. It has been voted one of Europe’s most luxurious suites. It’s easy to see why, with its sliding roof overlooking the central pool and large roof terrace as well as a sauna.

Although smaller in size, the other rooms are just as luxurious. Each room has a large balcony that overlooks the garden or pool. The bathrooms are luxurious with a freestanding tub in some rooms, as well as a T.V.

Anantara Vilamoura Resort

Anantara Vilamourais one of the most recent hotels, and it looks very modern from the outside. However, the hotel has elements of the Algarve throughout, including a coffee table made of fisherman’s lobster pots and a cork-bar.

Anantara hotels have always placed a strong emphasis on wellness. After you’ve enjoyed the thermal and hydrotherapy areas, you can take a break on the large terrace that overlooks the resort.

The rooms have an open-plan feel and feature the best Algarve beds. You can take a relaxing bath in your room with the included bath pillow and local Banho toiletries with lemon and verbena.

This hotel is half way between Conrad and The Pine Cliffs in terms of the number of restaurants. The hotel offers several restaurants including the EMO fine dining restaurant, which specializes in pairing local wines with food. The Ria seafood restaurant has a poolside terrace.

The Conrad isn’t on the coast but the hotel can be reached by the complimentary shuttle that takes you to the Pura Beach Club and their pool. This restaurant has a Miami beach vibe with its D.J. and cool white interior. It also offers a modern fish-based meal. If you’re looking for quiet and peace, the Anantara also has an adult-only pool. However, it is not heated like the main pool.

The hotel is located overlooking the Victoria Golf Course where the Portugal Masters takes place every year.

Bela Vista Hotel

The Bela Vista is a historic chalet from the late nineteenth century that was converted into a luxury hotel. The Relais & Chateaux hotel overlooks the Praia da Rocha cliff, near Portimao. It has direct access to the beaches.

The hotel’s decor could be described as ornate and eclectic. Its lobby, with its blue-tiled wooden staircase and embellished grand piano, is a prime example. The hotel is only for adults and is not recommended for children. Each room has a unique style and is decorated with bright blues and yellows that reflect the Algarve’s sunshine and beaches.

You can relax fully at the L’Occitane Spa in Portugal, which has a sauna and Hammam as well as a relaxation area afterward. You can also enjoy the sun and the beautiful view from the pool, while the hotel’s bar staff waits for you.

The boutique hotel has only one restaurant and two bars. It is located close to Portimao so you can eat out within minutes.

It doesn’t matter which hotel you choose, but it is worth looking at how you book in order to get the best deal. Conrad and Pine Cliffs both belong to major chains so you can use points from their loyalty programs to book. You should consider joining these loyalty programs before you book to earn points back on your stay. A luxury travel agent program such as Virtuoso can help you get the best value. It covers some of these hotels. You get upgrades, $100 hotel credit and free breakfast with this program. While the rates are slightly more expensive than those offered by an online agent, they are flexible and usually cheaper than other options.
